Five Valleys Quilt Group was founded in 2005 by a small group of like-minded, enthusiastic quilters and has been growing ever since. Current membership is over thirty members of mixed abilities, from beginners to experienced quilters.
The group meets on the second Wednesday every month, in the Arkell Centre, Nailsworth (from 7.30 – 9.00pm). Meetings are a mixture of mini-workshops or guest speakers (see our What’s On page).
In addition to the monthly meeting we also run daytime meetings in sub groups.
The Sampler Group (max. 20 members) meets in Horsley Village Hall, on the fourth Friday every month (11.00 – 13.00). This group has been working through a Block of the Month; completed blocks can be used to make small quilts, bed runners, cushions, or bags.
The Art Group is a smaller group which meets on the third Friday each month (10.30 – 12.30). This group is limited in size (max. 12 members) as we meet in each other’s homes. This is mainly a discussion-based meeting, which aims to foster creative contemporary/art quilting. Book recommendations, new techniques, exhibitions, show and tell, and challenges are all open for discussion.
Stitch Club
Meetings are held in Nailsworth Garden Centre (2.30 – 4.00 pm) on the 4th Wednesday each month. Mainly a hand embroidery group, any form of stitch (Knit/crochet) is good to bring along.
